ABSTRACT

This project work examined the effectiveness of multimedia facilities in improving students’ performance in computer in Federal College of Education, Eha Amufu, Enugu State. The work explained the conceptual background of thestudy such as effectiveness, multimedia,facilities, performance, education and computer. The work statistically analyzed four research questions focusing on availability of multimedia facilities, usage of multimedia facilities, hindrances of multimedia facilities and means of alleviating hindrances of multimedia facilities in teaching and learning computer. Four research questions guided the study. The study made use of survey research design. It was carried out in federal college of education, Eha-Amufu. The population for the study was 340 students (Nce1,Nce2 and Nce3) and 11 teachers. A random stratified sampling technique was used to select 120 respondents (109 students and 11 staff) for the study. Questionnaire was the main instrument used in gathering data. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions.The findings revealed that multimedia facilities have not been effectively available and utilized in improving students’ performance in computer in Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, major recommendation made was that government should buildstandard basic multimedia laboratory for computer science education department in order to enhance the effective use of multimedia in teaching and learning of computer.
